Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions we get most often here at Wise Electric. We know that every member is unique, so if you don’t find the answer or question you’re looking for, feel free to contact us.
Billing & Payment

Starting new service with Wise Electric depends on what type of service you are looking for. Generally, there are three types of new service requests we receive: new members, new structures and existing structures. If this is your first time becoming a member, there is a new member application available on our forms page. If you are currently a Wise Electric member and want to start service on a building that doesn’t currently have electricity infrastructure, there’s a form for that. And finally, if you’re a current member and looking to start service on a property previously served by Wise Electric, there’s a form for that. Find all our forms on our Forms page.

We understand that sometimes it can be hard to make payments each month. Please contact us if you want to discuss a flexible payment plan.

If you need to cancel your Wise Electric service, please contact us to start the cancelation process.

You have several options for paying your bill. The easiest way is through our online bill pay system, which you can access here. You’ll need to contact us if you need to set up your account for the first time. You can also pay your bill in person or mail in your payment using the invoice included with your monthly bill. Our office and mailing addresses can be found on the Contact Us page.

For a breakdown of the fees associated with your bill, see our Coverage & Rates page. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about a specific bill or line item.

Energy Services

To start saving with energy efficiency rebates, start by auditing your energy use at home. Then contact us to perform an in-home energy audit and apply your annual rebates to your account.

Energy savings can be as simple as switching to LED or CFL bulbs, or to as comprehensive as switching to double-pane, insulating window fittings. For a complete list of energy saving opportunities in your home, consult our Rebates & Savings page.

We serve just about everywhere within our service area, which you can see on our Coverage & Rates page. Feel free to contact us if you want to make sure that we can service your home or office before applying for service.
In case of inclement weather, first confirm that everyone is safe and take any necessary safety precautions. When it is safe to do so, you can report an outage online or call us at (940) 627-2167 to report the outage. You can also check our online system to track outages.

Anyone in our service area who is eligible for electric service can become a member of the cooperative.
The Coop
The main difference between Wise Electric and a standard utility company is that we are powered by members. This means that all of our customers are member-owners and we are accountable to their needs. Every member of our board of directors is a cooperative member just like you, and as a company we are driven by margins, not profits. This means that any annual surplus in funds is put back into the cooperative, through capital credits or investments in the community and infrastructure.
The best way to get involved with the coop is to have your voice heard through voting or participating in our annual member meeting.
